Introduced in 1888 as the Magazine Rifle MkI, it was upgraded in 1891 to use the new smokeless powder instead of the original black powder. This is the first English bolt action, magazine-loading service rifle, and is the grandfather of the later .303 Lee Enfield rifles. A gem!

A great video (again!). I can't believe that this rifle is over 100 years old. It is almost an antiquity.

Does that one have a cleaning rod?

lee-metford's are very old and were produced in much, much smaller quantities than lee-enfield's. I'm not sure how much one would cost today, but they are definitely antiques. Lots of older WWII rifles like Mosin Nagants, k98's, Lee-enfields, etc. are not that expensive today simply because 10's of millions of them were produced during WWII. You can get a WWII lee-enfield rifle in pretty good condition for maybe $300 here in Canada. I'm sure a Lee-Metford would be thousands.
